Is Holiday Inn Resort Samui worth it for families?

Who it's for

This is one of the easiest family stays on Koh Samui. Everything is in one place, nothing to organise, nowhere to drive, no one asking if you're nearly ready to leave. The splash pool keeps younger kids entertained for hours, the beach is right there if they want a change of scene, and the staff are genuinely brilliant with kids, the kind of place where you don't have to keep half an eye on the room to see if anyone's paying attention.

Facilities and activities

The soft play area deserves its own mention. It's genuinely one of the biggest and best on the island, not a token corner with a few mats, a proper space kids can disappear into. There are scheduled activities running throughout the day too, so it's not just free play, there's structure if your kids want it.

Evenings are properly catered for too. Circus night, movie night, and other regular events mean you're not left filling the hours after dinner yourselves, which matters more than people expect with young children.

Food

Breakfast deserves a mention too. There's a dedicated kids' station, which sounds like a small thing until you're the parent not negotiating over what's on the plate every morning.

Rooms

Rooms vary enough to suit different families. Sea view and pool view rooms cover the standard options, multi-bedroom suites work well if you need more space, and there's one specific room that opens directly onto the outdoor play area, worth requesting if your kids are young enough that you want them in sight at all times. There are also kids' themed suites with bunk beds and a separate sleeping area, worth asking about if your children are old enough to want their own space but you still want everyone under one roof.

Day passes

If you're not staying but want a day here, day passes are sometimes available, usually during low season, but this isn't guaranteed year-round. Worth checking directly with the hotel before building a day around it.

Location

A short walk takes you to Fisherman's Village and CocoTam's, so it's easy to turn a hotel day into a full day out without needing transport. Good to know

One honest note: if you're after a romantic break for two, this isn't the hotel for it. This is built for families, and it delivers exactly that, but you'll be surrounded by other families and children throughout the public areas, not a quiet, adults-focused atmosphere.
