Kimpton Kitalay Samui and Sala Choeng Mon sit toward the quieter end of the beach with a more design-led, grown-up feel, and Sala adds a separate adults-only pool alongside the family one. Melia Koh Samui sits right in the middle of the beach and leans further into kids' club territory, with water slides and a more kid-centric energy, without losing the resort feel parents are paying for. None of the three are a budget pick. If cost is the main driver of where you stay, Choeng Mon isn't the right base yet. The rooms and public spaces have a more considered, boutique feel than the usual resort formula, with a genuinely more luxurious edge throughout. There's a kids' club on site, worth knowing given how adult the property otherwise reads in its styling.

    It sits slightly tucked out of the way compared to the other two, and that cuts both ways. Families who want distance from the busier stretch of Choeng Mon will like the separation. Families who want to walk straight out into the middle of things won't.

It still holds onto the luxury resort feel parents want, it's simply built with a younger, more activity-led family day in mind.
